Olive Harvest Part Two ~ From The Mill To The

I awoke a little sore but well rested and quite excited to see the process through at the olive mill so we could bring home the fruits of our two days of hard work. I was surprised to see my husband managed to cram all 11 cases into our small little[...]

Our First Olive Harvest

When we bought our two farmhouses in the heart of Umbria less than a year ago, we were both quite excited that there were 75 mature olive trees growing across the property. My husband so enjoyed owning these olive trees in fact, that he had 15 more[...]

Fish Dish: Coconut Curry Ahi Over Udon

I was excited to find that my local market has started stocking Full Circle all natural, wild caught, US fish in its freezer section.  I live on the Gulf Coast and can get fresh Gulf seafood but these are not indigenous fishcicles.  So I have decided to share this culinary voyage with you.  I won?t [...]

Of Chocolates and Cheeses

Even though 7 Oaks is closed, I can still get world class cheese and chocolate tasting in Central Point. I plan on a nibble of Lille Belle Farms’ handmade chili chocolates, some of Rogue Creamery’s addictive Crater Lake Blue cheese and a  small sack of garlic cheese curds for tonight’s pizza.

Infomercials put to the test

pasta

Good Housekeeping (October 2009) put four popular kitchen products to the test recently.  At least the infomercials would lead you to believe that they’re popular.  I don’t know…somehow I’ve managed to resist all of them!

Pasta n’ More, the microwavable dish for your pasta (and more!), they thought was pretty good.  I don’t know if this plastic pot is really worth the price, but I suppose it depends upon how badly you want to microwave your spaghetti.  I can live without it.

Debbie Meyer’s GreenBags worked better than ziplocs for some foods (strawberries, bananas, and lettuce), but worse than ziplocs on other foods (broccoli and peppers).  They are way too much to tempt me, plus we make it a practice to eat our produce quickly.

You can also check out the reviews on the Big City Slider Station and ShamWow if you’d like to.  Just visit the Good Housekeeping site for all 18 household product reviews!
