Here is an e-mail interview with Fraiche Yogurt’s co-owner Jessica Gilmartin about their new store.
Question: When do you anticipate opening?
Answer: We are targeting a mid-June opening.
Q: What will be Fraiche Yogurt's menu?
A: We have a small menu, with each item carefully selected to ensure that it's made with only high quality, natural ingredients. Customers can choose from the following items:
- Organic, all natural fresh and frozen organic yogurt produced in-store
- Steel-cut Whole-Grain Oatmeal
- A variety of fresh fruit, purees, honey, nuts, granola and other specialty toppings
- Blue Bottle organic coffee and espresso products
- Baked goods, such as quickbreads, breakfast bars, salt biscotti and cookies, sourced locally
We believe in supporting the Bay Area community, and source only from local, small batch producers.
Q: What will be unique about Fraiche Yogurt?
A: We are the only store in the United States that has its own yogurt pasteurizing plant on-site in a retail environment. That means that, unlike packaged yogurt you get in the supermarket, the yogurt you purchase from Fraiche is completely fresh with no preservatives or additives. Our frozen yogurt is made from our organic fresh yogurt; typically, frozen yogurt is made from a mix. Customers can get a guilt-free but delicious breakfast, snack, lunch or dessert at our store.
Q: This Palo Alto store does not appear to be part of a chain, true?
A: That is correct. Patama Roj and Jessica Gilmartin are the co-founders. We both live on the peninsula.
Q: What led to the founding of Fraiche Yogurt?
A: Patty and Jessica have been friends for 10 years, and wanted to start a business together that really served the local community. We realized that there were very few healthy, delicious food options to enjoy on-the-go, and created a café that health conscious people could enjoy, without having to sacrifice taste or quality.
Q: Anything else you would like share with Food Notebook readers?
A: We're excited to share our products with fellow food lovers. We're really proud of the food that we have made, and look forward to meeting you.
